[WLDRSE]
A visual loveletter to Alberta horse lovers.
Wildrose Equestrians aka [WLDRSE] is a self-published documentary style fine-art magazine celebrating Alberta’s equestrian heritage. The project will feature nine equestrian sites or horsepeople across Alberta, chosen through applications or nominations.
Albertan equestrian journalist Julie-Claire and Canadian history expert Craig Barid (Canadian History Ehx) will assist with interviews and documentation of the stories of those participating. There is no cost to the chosen feature sites/persons.
The publication is set for release in early 2026 and will be available for public purchase.
Project Goals
-
The end product of [WLDRSE] has to be something anyone can pick up and enjoy. A cross between a magazine and a coffee table book, this thick stock Canadian-produced publication will provide the viewer a glimpse into ranching and equestrian work in our Province.
-
of equestrian history and information in Alberta. There are so many historically significant equestrian sites and people in our Province that have left a lasting impact on horsemanship and ranching. The nature of agricultural and ranch based work often leaves these people and places without the time or resources for promotion or recognition. The history is slipping through our fingers!
-
from different disciplines and areas of our Province. Different disciplines of equestrian work often use varying training and horsemanship methods. By sharing knowledge in a transparent and non-judgemental way, we can all be more connected, informed, and tolerant of other views.
-
non-equestrian Albertans on ranching and agricultural professionals that are located right here in our Province. Horses should be for everyone, in some capacity!
-
for Alberta businesses and professionals to promote their product/services through sponsorship and connection to Albertans.
